To Lead Is to Serve

There are many principles that are foundational in becoming a leader. One of the most important is selflessness. To lead is to serve. Real leadership is not coerced by position, it is won by example. Selflessness is key in becoming the example you wish to see in the world. Many people suffer an internal dialogue that reminds of them not being good enough, or instills a fear of failure, or countless other negative thoughts. The Buddha called it the monkey mind. Most of us suffer or have suffered it. The fastest way to shut that process down is to genuinely think and do for others. Leaders that are concerned for the people around them will exhibit the highest leadership skill available, and will succeed in leading by example.

"A sorrow shared is half the sorrow A joy shared is twice the joy" -Swedish proverb
